Peterk, there is no chance that the market has responded to the 1st day of the trial, for a number of reasons. First, San Diego is 3 hours earlier than the west coast so the trial wouldn't have even started until 11:30-12 noon on the east coast; second, the most that would happen in the first morning of the trial would be for the judge to talk to the jury, and opening statements--with the outside possibility of Qualcomm putting on one witness at about 4pm in the east; third, the trial will probably be very technical in nature and very few will know what is going on until the very end,(if then); and fourth, I don't really think a Qualcomm victory in this case will have much meaning except to apply some leverage on Broadcom. On the other hand, a Qualcomm loss will have a very bad impact since it will reflect a failure on the part of Q to protect its patents.
