The entire message of your thread is bound in your extremist rhetoric, fear, hatred, bigotry and a false representation of people. There are at least seven million Muslims living in the USA. I am sure we could find some abused women in that large of a group.
However, I have never met or heard of one single woman among the large number I have personal knowledge of, who has been violently beaten. The information being presented on your thread suggests women are commonly violently and severely abused. I ask Muslims to stop using the word 'beat' for spanking or striking each other because, in the West the only connotation is a bloody ass whoop'n. However, the Quranic word translates as beat and the explanation is something different. As that Sheik was trying to explain, any physical reprimand must be so gentle that it really amounts to a symbolic gesture like a light slap on the shoulder that can not be done in a hurtful or humiliating way. You might think that women are keeping it all private, so we don't get to know the facts about how they are abused. However as someone who has seen the culture from the inside, let me just tell you that the social center of Muslim communities is the sisterhood which is very active and involved. A lot of the Middle Easterners like to marry within their tribes including cousins. There are no isolated women and the gossip channels are ridiculously active. They don’t cover when hanging together btw. There is no privacy when it comes to family life. So, I highly doubt that the wool is being pulled over our eyes.

We can fight against that with some success if we are clear about who that enemy is.
