My wife stayed up late and watched a show
last night--genomics, personalized medicine,
Venter was there, Watson--the whole deal.
She starts talking to me about Gleevec,
targeted and combinations of meds, meds
that are completely effective for their
subsets of patients, etc etc.

So I say to her, yes, exactly. That is why
you own the stock you own. But you cannot
actually forecast how it plays out.

Likewise, sure, chance of snow. I was up late
last night doing the forecast... There is
still some onshore flow--showers coming down
the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and those combined
with the instability (it is very cold aloft) and
the modified arctic front etc etc.

Yes, it will snow somewhere, some amount.
Best guess, some snow in Whatcom county along
the boundary--then an inch or two for a lot of
folks as the modified arctic front drops south.

Same thing as the stock market--predictions and
speculation. Wall Street is more exciting though,
the poker element--who wants shares, who is
bluffing etc. But VC's, hedgies, and mutual
funds to some degree control how it plays out...
