He was grounded, meaning not allowed to fly. Though he never did before that either. He was going to be required to fly jets in the next round of training but he buggered out first. I don't blame him. I'm afraid of heights. I'll be he is too. Plus he was a drinker and coker in those days. He never flew a plane again btw. Never. Though he tried to fly a Cessna once and failed.
