OK, I did check the records. Very interesting. It appears the American Spirit has jumped the gun. Yes, Bush went AWOL in 1971, was grounded, refused his drug test and his records are missing. True by 1972 to get out of the Guard two years early he did some work on simulators. True,. he may have swiped someone else's distinguished flying medal to pose for a photo.

But, I apologize profusedly. It appears Bush did do some flying exercises in 1969-1970, including some solo flights. So I was wrong.

But two last points, first of all Bush in no way landed that plane on the carrier. He hadn't flown a thing in 30 years and the Secret Service wouldn't have allowed that anyway.

Number two, now that I admit I have been proven wrong and Bush did some solo flying, why don't you confess that every single smearvet claim about John Kerry has either been proven totally false, or was a wild exaggerated flipped on itsd head to try and make it mean the opposite of what it really meant? That's the least you can do.

Bush may have flown some jets for awhile but Kerry went much farther for his country, and was every bit as much a war hero as anyone else fighting in Nam in those days, and he did nothing wrong, faked nothing, lied about nothing and was discharged honorably. In other words the smearvets are totally full of crapola and still won't fess up to it.

If you admit all this, then I apologize for suspecting Bush never flew at all solo, and we can rest our cases. And we can listen to Bush try to convince us that 20,000 more troops in Iraq (which we may not even have available, and which we were using a year ago when we had 18,000 more than now) is going to change anything.
