The current President and his predecessor both asked for the power to restrain spending to be restored to the office of the President. Congress cooperated during the Clinton Administration, but the SCOTUS struck it down. The Republican controlled Congress has done nothing to restrain spending during the Administration of President Bush 43.

"(IMO, the next Prez may not have much of an 'opportunity' to be fiscally wasteful! Likely that option will be taken away from him.)"
