Appears to me that bringing the carrier into the gulf creates a show of strength and force. Not only are we showing strength, we are there as a protective force for the ground troops and American civilians dedicated to rebuilding Iraq as well as for the people of Iraq . Likewise, we are there as a foil to prevent the destruction of Israel and our American interests in Israel---an Israel that we helped to create when we fought in WWII. mj
