Kerry volunteered for two tours of duty in Vietnam. He didn't try to dodge the draft like all the Bushies did. Your 12 month charge means absolutely nothing. It's just a desperate attempt to pick out some imaginary flaw in a superb military record. And why are you doing so in the first place? Because you can't accept that Bushies are cowards and guys like Kerry are real men and heros.
A lot of his first tour was training and escorting an aircraft carrier to Vietnam. He had already volunteered for combat in Vietnam. Once there, he awaited assignment. They gave him the most dangerous, hairy assignment in the Navy and he didn't just excel, he amazed. He did more combat-wise in 3 months that most vets do in 3 years, and inspired others to follow his example. He earned all his medals and stripes the hard way. If he had stayed in the military he could have been an admiral. He was one of the most impressive soldiers in the entire war. There is no swiftvet who is more impressive. Can you locate one? And also, Kerry never boastrs about it, but we should all be proud.
Kerry's Silver Star exploit was classic. As the ABC investigation proves, Kery single-handed charged ashore (ballsy all by itself, remember in APOCALYPSE NOW "never get off the boat" warning?) into a force of VC regulars to kill their rocketeer, a 23 year old regular, not some "kid" likie the smearvets lie. He did it all alone. He saved his men, scared off the enemy, got back on his boat and went onto the next battle. That took HUEVOS.
Make no mistake, the same smearvet far rightwingers Admiral Hoffman who smeared Kerry in 2004 admired and oooed and ahhed over Kerry in earlier years. Hoffman is on record saying Kerry was a true hero and Hoffman was just pissed because Kerry joined the anti-war movement, and Hoffman was a superhawk known for ordering Vietnamese villages to be burned down. Hoffman was exactly the type Kerry attacked when he accused the US military of promoting atrocious behavior. Burning down hootches was a terrible order to give, the whole free-fire zone, (shoot anything thatb moves) and resulted in the My Lai massacre. But Hoffman types can't handle the guilt so they point fingers at others. |
