"I think he just hates ... why don't you ?

I hate. I am a man of principle and am bound to hate certain things that violate principles of human decency. For example, I hate coercion, oppression, and dishonesty designed to corrupt my soul.

I learned when I was a young man that once we objectify a group we are able to dehumanize them and in doing so qualify them in our collective minds as deserving of our malice.

As a boy, I didn't know dehumanizing labels were designed for that purpose. The enemy in Viet Nam in the early 60s were commonly called 'gooks.' I remember hearing the older guys who were going off to war talking about killing 'gooks,' as though they were going on a weekend duck hunt or something. It sounded fun. When I was younger than that, I heard my uncles talking about fighting 'Nips' and 'Gerrys' from World War II. Killing Nips and Gerrys sounded cool. Later I learned this meant Japanese and Germans. I knew Japanese people and German people who were nice, so I felt betrayed by having been socialized with those ideas. When I was even younger, I heard the word 'spooks' spoken by white people who were bigots and hated blacks. And of course we all know how this type of propaganda was used to justify genocide or mistreatment of some American Indian groups in our history.

These, and others, are all malicious misrepresentations designed to dehumanize people so it becomes OK to hate them. Once they are not quite as human as us, the rules of human decency no longer seem to apply in their case.

The attempt to create language that would do this is an insidious attempt to coerce others into validating your hatred. That is what is being done with the use of the term ‘Death Cult’ with reference to Muslims. Once you agree to that term you can take any aspect of the culture and dehumanize it in the light of what you consider acceptable in society. You are an expert, so you know what I mean.
