Putting in two BUYS at once could have spooked the MM, and while he may have matched the first trade when a second came in before he agreed, he may have said the Ask just went up.

ALSO you broker(s) may not have given the order to the MM on the inside Ask. In which case he may have taken the order to work it, and then as demand came in, he never gave you a fill.

You broker(s) may have beed slow to get the order placed. It doesn't sound like you were on the phone awaiting immediate execution of the trade??

For fast moving stocks and for "indication only" bulletin board stocks if you really want to own the stock you need to be alert and ready to negotiate on a moments notice.
