Jlallen, you amaze me. How many times have you and other neo-con supporters been all wrapped in the flag. "It's all about our troops." ... "Bush supports our troops." .... "You that criticize the war are harming our troops and demeaning their efforts" Now, when you ask Steve whether he's served and you find out that he was:
"Awarded the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star," all you say is:
"You are correct in one respect...Iraq is NO LONGER a direct threat to our nation....."
How about "thank you." How about "I appreciate what you sacrificed for our country." How about anything that would indicate that you have a real respect for what great sacrifice actually is when others are making it FOR ALL OF US.
You're not alone, I notice none of the other "wrapped in the flag" posters utterred a word.
For my part I'd like to thank Steve Dietrich for risking his life and distinguishing himself with valor in the service of our country. Thank you Steve and welcome home. Ed

Well, the behavior of jlallen and his ilk doesn't surprise me at all. That is exactly what we see at the very top of the neocon ladder as well, as the recent cuts in Veterans' benefits have shown.
Yes, the Bush cabal "supports" our troops -- they want somebody else to go die for them, and those who do come back alive, get screwed by them.

So you're saying that "as a vet [yourself]" you feel no need to thank Steve for his time as a soldier when he was under fire risking his life and was decorated for valor in a violent, deadly, ignored, lost war? What kind of vet were you? What kind of man are you? What kind of American are you?
You've wrapped yourself in the flag, you've called others unAmerican, unpatriotic and treasonous. The difference between men of courage, conviction and character, and hypocrits, however, lies in their hearts, not their words. Jlallen, your statement says a lot about you and the picture it paints is not a pretty one.
