Government tend to react to the people I agree but that is the problem. They are not using this to try and change things before it gets worse. The problem with inner and inter city in the twenty some years I've been in the Gulag (Toronto :O) We have had the Sheppard extension to the subway. Absolutely pitiful. On many through streets we have bus lanes.. relatively little used by busses and many busses with little ridership.. The bus lane streets have the worst traffic. The mayor likes street cars... the internal congestion engine... Most bus stops do not have pull-in lanes... so all traffic halts behind them. Worse... typically you have a stop on either side of a major intersection ... just before and just after.. plays havoc with the right turns on red... clogs intersections... just kills traffic flow.. The long haul trucking in the Quebec City to Windsor corridor is horrendous... and rail should be the only way. We subsidize those trucking companies with road work etc... When you deal with logistics and economics you may find that the Big Box Mall concept i The problem is that you can easily blow off every weekend at these malls.. I do astronomical mileage just in the city.. and you will never promote rapid transit if you keep allowing them.. ry getting into some of these narrow streets and back alleys with a big semi sometime Agree trucks and vans for short haul and delivery... no question.. discover it's cheaper to use trucks but we pay... let them pay and raise their prices... then it's like a consumption tax... I like those... hate income tax... Electric cars LOL. that's like a low flush toilet... 1 regular flush or 3-4 low flushes to do the same work .. maybe more for heavy lifting LOL.. ... (A very funny King of the Hill episode on that topic..) I have 2 dogs, 2 kids, and a wife... if I shop at the big box store with my little putt putt... how do I get my stuff home... wait for delivery ... sigh.. Whens the appointment... oh sometime today... maybe.. just wait around for us... .and then you don't get re elected. Yes... with democracy we'll never make any progress on this ... just hear lots of BS... and talk about it a lot LOL.. double sigh... :O)
