Many private companies choose to go the route of buying
a publically traded firm instead of going IPO because it
tends to be a "cheaper" and quicker way of going public.
Fewer Inv.Banking fees, legal fees, etc...in certain
circumstances.

In fact, that's why I bought into Lunn....not for some
undiscovered value that isn't reflected in the
underlying Lunn share price, but for the undiscovered
value of TPG and the merged entity. Bond, you correctly
point out that TPG will dominate the newco and this is
what we should be focusing on. I see alot of good
observations on this thread along these lines. The
investors who understand this recognize that buying
Lunn at these levels is a relatively "cheap" way to buy
into a much stronger newco.

I do expect that the first few weeks of trading for the
newco will be somewhat volatile, as the market attempts to
value the firm and as investors re-balance portfolios.
