Elroy seems to have this blind spot where the future should be. He can see the present and the past, the future not so much. Most of the rest of us are concerned for the future, but Elroy seems to just assume it will be like the present. Not true. In about three hours I'm going to go have a nice steak, some beers, and then listen to a Philippino cover band play classic rock tunes. I can picture it perfectly.
