received the "Essential Library"

and I can't keep my nose out of it - love just reading it and have flagged several books from it

have read several of the books she earmarked

didn't much care for what I've read of Binchy - or of Joyce, but she makes Ulysses sound so interesting that I'm going to read the final "juicy" chapter [started it and I can see why no actually reads it - like Faulkner, little of or punctuation - grrrr] - why do novelist find that so 'artistic'? just makes for a difficult read

also read O'Flaherty's "Famine" - she recommends his "The Black Soul' [am looking for it]

I've covered Wilde, Stoker and Swift - Yeats for poetry

this one looks very good - "The Great Hunger"

a few others

this was a great recommendation

75 pages into "Life of Pi" [Llywelyn has derailed me a bit] - so far so good, different - am learning things about India and animals I didn't know - how bad is that?
