The outliers part is true, but the average isn't. Which isn't really surprising given the major differences between men and women, such as brain size difference and puberty age, not to mention hormones, missing Y chromosome etc. 2.5 IQ points is apparently the difference, for men and women with the same parentage obviously, because if you compared Japanese women with African men, the women would be much more intelligent than men. New Zealand women are as smart as American men and New Zealand men are much smarter than American women [by about 5 IQ points].
