Kerry was right. Saddam needed to be thoroughly inspected and disarmed. That is not the same as invading Iraq and occupying the country. Apples and oranges.

Also, let's be honest. Bush-Cheney were at the time cherry-picking unreliable intel from sources like Chalabi and Curveball, only showing the senate intelligence committee that stuff. They did not show Kerry and others the fresher more reliable intel showing Saddam probably did not have any WMD.

All this has come out since 2003-2006. The ex CIA chief who was in charge of Middle East operations has explained this, that the CIA told the WH there were no WMD in late 2002. Six months before the invasion.
