Saddam was not connected to 9-11 or Al Qaida and posed no imminent threat. He simply needed to be thoroughly inspected and disarmed if any illegal arms were discovered. End of story. The war powers vote was meant to be a real threat to Saddam to get him to comply. And it worked. But Bush had decided to invade long before. And he made up all kinds of lies to justify this. Plu,s he planned so poorly that now we would be lucky to have Saddam back in power. That is how poorly Bush-Cheney mounted their war.
