Is there anything you can see that we as citizens, can do about this situation?

The winds are blowing strongly in the wrong direction. I don't think that there will be any meaningful changes until the barn door is wide open and the horse is long gone.

I've never understood why the Dems hammer Bush so much about "mean ole' big-oil" and yet continue to tie the oil companies 'hands,' all the while, raising their tax burdens.

Because too many Dems (and GOP'ers) are unable or unwilling to see that actions (and inactions) have consequences. That old "have your cake and eat it, too" would cover such attitudes pretty well..

I didn't know the Dems were trying to change terms of existing leases....Do you have any links that would tell us about this?

Dems and Republicans.. Here's your link..

rigzone.com

this alone is enough to make the POTUS turn grayhaired, without all the other troubles in the world to think about.....

It doesn't help when Bush talks about the US being "addicted to oil". That's a dumb thing to say. The country needs oil like a body needs blood and oxygen. Addiction?? Take it away and it's more than "withdrawals" we'll be suffering....
