Then you must disagree with bush that this is the struggle of the century, or you must think that his dramatic statements are also over the top.

Except in the very literal sense that this century has barely started (as Elroy points out Message 23181352 , but I don't actually hope something bigger comes along), I do think that calling Iraq the struggle of the century is likely hyperbole.

If Bush means the 21st century, then its only accurate if 1 - He's talking about the wider battle against Islamofacists and terrorism, and 2 - The 21st century is a lot more peaceful then the 20th. If he means the 21st century to this point, then his statement is literally true but not very meaningful. If he means the century meaning starting 100 years before he made the statement then yes Bush's statement was over the top.
