One reason may be that Luminent's customers are for the most part MRVC's competitors. Have often wondered if Luminent would/could do more business with MRVC competitors if they weren't part of MRVC.

Another reason might have to do with the P/E ratio of MRVC including Luminent versus the the P/E ratio of Luminent as a stand alone company (also considering the P/E ratio of MRVC without Luminent).
