UPDATE 1-RESEARCH ALERT-JP Morgan starts Acme on overweight
Tue Jan 16, 2007 8:44 AM ET

(Adds details)

Jan 16 (Reuters) - J.P. Morgan Securities started computer networking equipment maker Acme Packet <APKT.O> with an "overweight" rating, saying the company's order outlook appears strong through 2007.

The brokerage said it sees rapid growth of the session board controllers market that grew from about $45 million in 2004 to an estimated $190 million in 2006 as telcos and cable companies, among others, carry more voice and video traffic over Internet Protocol (IP).

The brokerage noted that Acme has forecast 2007 revenue of $108 million to $112 million, up 31 percent to 34 percent, from its 2006 outlook. (Reporting by Ratul Ray Chaudhuri in Bangalore)
