We're not pro-Saddam, they say, its just Saddam was a source of stability so everyone was better off with him in power.

Stability? Sure, except for little things like this:

- the 8 year Iran-Iraq war started by Saddam, which took over a million lives

- the Kuwait war started by Saddam

- the setting afire of every oil well in Kuwait

- the firing of missiles at Saudi Arabia and Israel

- the 300+ mass graves within Iraq

- the use of biological and chemical weapons against civilian populations

- the widespread use of arbitrary arrest, torture, and execution

- the imposition of economic sanctions on Iraq because of his refusal to cooperate with the UNSC, which according to UNICEF cost the lives of 500,000 children and who knows how many adults.

Some stability.
