<Anyone see why AMD Live can't incorporate the functions of an AV receiver in the box?>

Personally, from my own experiences with my home theaters, I would prefer to keep them separate. I am going to invest in an HTPC shortly (as I am waiting for Vista MCE) but I don't want anything to do with high-definition television on it because of the Cablecard situation. I just want the platform to stream my DVD movies and all of my uncompressed CDs. I am in the process of deciding which equipment I need/want.

I prefer the receiver to be a fairly locked down environment as to avoid conflicts. I can't even imagine an amplification section in an AMD Live platform. Too many variables with a Windows environment for it to be stable but I believe it will be stable enough for my application as I prefer not to waste my money on a Kaleidoscape system as well as a Request when shortly in the future the same functionality will be much cheaper (as long as people fight DRM!!).

Just say NO to Apple!!
