He didn't say, but he most certainly said when taxes are raised, he lays off people.

That is what he is trying to say with his nitwit example. No real business would operate that way, though.

Personally, this is something I doubt has ever happened. It is the equivalent of quitting your job because your tax rate is too high. If someone did that, then you would think something was seriously wrong with that person. Same principle applies.

Use a little logic here. Higher tax rates only come with higher income. If the income is low, the rate is also. So even if there is an across the board increase, it is generally weighted towards the top. So the ones with the higher incomes get hit the hardest. If, despite the higher income they go bust because of higher taxes, something is really wrong.
