Iran was moderating away from the Mullahs in 2000-2001. The people had gotten sick and tired of them and wanted to open up and make amends with the west. But Bush slammed the door in their faces. Why? I guess he just had an overwhelming desire to invade Iraq, and it had nothing to do with WMD or bringing democracy. Three guesses what the real reason was.
