How was I to know? In Michigan we never wrapped any pipes..

I made a comment along those lines to my partner today.

I grew up in SE Michigan, back when winters were harsh there. I lived in Northern Vermont for 8 years, and -20 for a week was not uncommon. I don't recall ever encountering frozen pipes in either place.

Around here, we've had a frozen pipe in the house, and now at the office twice in 3 years. Go figure.
