Doing less business because your taxes have gone up is a totally irrational response.

Not if your dropping low margin business that is no longer profitable. Not if its a very small business which you own and run and you close off some new area of business where you aren't well established because you think that the lower margins aren't worth the investment of your time to manage. Not if you simply can't get the same level of business in the higher tax environment (which is esp. applicable to high narrow taxes, on your product or area of business, but isn't limited to that possibility)
