Spitzer for President! He'll have my vote, if and when..

He must first prove himself in an executive position as a governor. Since New York State gubernatorial elections are off-year, he has to do a good job in his 4 years in the office, get reelected and then he would be in position to run either in 2010 or 2014. He is still fairly young (or looks young - I don't know his age).
