MKS forecasts $18/oz high for Silver in 2007 - By Jon Nones 16 Jan 2007 at 03:45 PM
Switzerland-based MKS Finance forecasts that Silver could post a high of $18/oz in 2007, noting an average $13.75/oz with a low pegged at $12/oz. But MKS expects Silver to prove just as volatile this year as in the last:
“The launch of a Silver ETF last year and the broader speculative and investment interest in Silver shall enable the metal to trade more and more like a financial asset rather than a ‘pure’ industrial commodity,” said MKS analyst Frederic Panizzutti.
“We believe the industrial supply and demand balance to prevail in 2007 but expect the fresh inflow of investments assets to somewhat tighten the physical availability over time and result in short lived but ample upside rallies.”
He added: “while we forecast Silver to move toward $18/oz during the course of the year, we do not see Silver being able to hold this level for long. This year again, Silver shall remain one of the most volatile and unpredictable precious metals.”
