Their post recovery sales in the local area would be lower, and there sales in areas they pull the goods from to move to the disaster area would go down. Did it actually cause their overall sales over a long period of time to go up? Probably not...

In the building products industry, after Andrew, the sales in the south Florida region were phenomenal for 3 years. There was a ton of demand and we managed to meet it without raising prices... we didn't charge more and were more than happy to move product to where there was the greatest demand short term, and to make more product to fill the demand over the longer term.
