The retired generals have started to line up and speak their minds. Odom is exactly right...exactly right! We cannot win, nor should we pursue, a war that is not in our national interests.

We continue to pump money, blood and prestige into a failed situation in Iraq, to the benefit of Iran....Does anyone, anyone at all, think that al Maliki has a goal of a multicultural, multisectarian Iraq, governed by a coalition of all stakeholders? No way. That stooge for the Shiites is playing us along and our leadership seems to still be buying it.

Meanwhile, while we throw in men and money, Saudi Arabia uses it's "power of the pump" to take on Iran and the Iranians flood a friendly government in Iraq with "advisors", setting the stage for the eventual Shiite takeover as the Country tears itself into three pieces (the best outcome!), or, more likely, degenerates into a Shiite hegemony with the Kurds tucked up north and the Sunnis reaching out to the Saudi's and others to guarantee their existence in a hostile land.

And with all these massive moves afoot, the Administration throws 20,000 brave Americans right into the maw of the mess....buying nothing but more trouble for us.

Why? McCaffrey can see the problem. Odom can see it. Why can't the Administration?
