Perhaps the point of the poll was to discover how many people want BUSH to fail in Iraq, regardless of the cost, despite claiming that they want the COUNTRY to succeed there.

If so it sounds like a waste of our time poll to me.

Apparently, certain elements don't want Bush to succeed at anything regardless of any adverse effects on the country, the military or the citizenry.

I wouldn't read that into the ansswer. I would think people think the Bush surge plan is unlikely to succeed, so they said "fail" in response to the question without realizing that implies they "want" it to fail, not that they "think" it will fail.

It's just a poorly phrased question.
