"...servings were too small."

That's interesting as most restaurants today serve far too large portions. We eat lunch at Applebee's quite often as their menu offers "half" servings. The money savings isn't all that much, but the portion is just about right to satisfy a lunch appetite for most people.

I have a Village Inn just up the street from me. I occasionally walk up there for breakfast. I asked the waitress if I could have just a half order of their biscuits and sausage gravy. Her reply? "We don't have half orders!" I didn't ask to pay half, just be served half. She wasn't smart enough to figure that out. So I ordered a single pancake a la carte and left her 50 cents for a tip. I wanted to talk to the manager but he was on the phone and kept turning his back on me. Haven't been back.
