That was 30 years ago. Was going down I57 to do some goose hunting. Had a CB radio then and the messages were all watch out for the ice starting at mile marker 87. Then it got down to 100' past mile marker 87. I'm thinking this is nuts and 100' past marker 87 the ice did start, like it was painted on the road. The tough part was getting around the trucks that couldn't make it up the over passes. I had a road hugging Buick Riviera and if I got up to 30 it was hang on time. Few years later I was down there hunting when a snow storm hit, guy I was with had to get home so back we came. Interstates were closed so we came home on two lane roads. No Plows were out. Odd driving 100 miles and not seeing another vehicle.
