There is another possibility......the tickets are expensive but there are enough people in the community who can afford to pay the price. That's the case in Seattle.

If the games are selling out, and there is a lot of extra demand at the give price then there are enough people who can afford to pay the price, or in a sense even too many people.

Expensive doesn't necessarily equal "over priced". In fact "very expensive" can still be "below market rate".

They're expensive to the average citizen of Seattle because they sell their tickets as season tickets. Less people can afford season tickets than a ticket for one game.

Either the Seahawks routinely sell out and have extra demand or they don't. If they do the tickets are sold at below market rates no matter how expensive they are. If they don't than your earlier "demand has yet to be sated" statement doesn't apply.

Tim, I haven't done a marketing study. What I do know is that every game is sold out and a game has never been blacked out for poor attendance while I have lived here. I suspect there is cap on ticket prices put on by the gov't agency that helped build the stadium but that's a guess. I also know that are cities without an NFL team who desperately want one. It seems to me that if second and third tier cities like Jacksonville and Green Bay and even Charlotte can fill a stadium, I suspect there could be many more franchises than there are now.

Bottomline: I would like to go to a game but can never get a ticket even though my taxes helped pay for the stadium.
