It's not "oersonal" per se, I was just going along with the "my side is all right, your side is all wrong" tub-thumping.

The dichotomy between "yes, Saddam was a horrible person and the world is better off without him" and "the Iraqis were better off with him" simply cannot be reconciled logically or rationally.

You may recall I didn't bring this up, we were talking about civil wars.

Mary wanted to talk about how things were better off under Saddam so I tried to engage her on that.

She raised, in my mind, a topic that has always baffled me, to wit: what motivates people to be apologists for mass murderers, e.g., "well, at least he made the trains run on time."

Mass murder is entirely inconsistent with the tenets of both liberalism and conservatism.

Why mourn these bastards? Why not celebrate their passing?
