And it would be. Wind is wind. No tornadoes, so that is a bit of a blessing. Near as I can tell, the word "hurricane" essentially means winds over 60 knots on the Beaufort scale. We have taken that terminology and applied it more narrowly to tropical cyclones in the Atlantic.
