Peg me as a pessimist, but with Hillary and Obama, I think the two most likely Dem primary runners are unelectable.

Let me disagree a bit. Though it's much too early to discuss this seriously. I think there is a reasonable probability that the final Dem ticket is Clinton and Obama. In that order.

I think that ticket is a slam dunk, as they say, against any of the likely Rep candidates. By "likely", I'm excluding Guiliana and McCain as extremely unlikely to be able to get the Rep nomination. The far right simply has too strong a hold on the primary process.

If either of them, however, is able to sneak through to the Rep nomination, they are likely to be so damaged by having moved enough to the right to get it, that they will sacrifice large chunks of the independent vote. Which, for the moment, looks to be the determining factor.

Care to elaborate on your point above? I'm interested.
