Selection more complete at Walmart and prices much lower. 7.99 vs. 5.94 for one item recently. I make a list and stock up on everyday necessities every six weeks or so. Also, my husband and I like the drive so not a burden to us. I TRIED to make myself buy at AMES to support my investment, but couldn't find certain items and price generally 20 percent or so more. On the other hand, AMES does have some great sales and we do buy heavily at those. AMES seems to be succeeding, how much growth will be possible? Upscaling everyone talks about seems to be bringing them up to Walmart level in stock. They were below before, in terms of economic status of shopper. I know of others in this area that drive long distances to WMT. Just trying to be realistic. I hope for the best for ames, obviously, and buy there whenever it makes sense.
