A letter from a son..

sorry dad for not calling, its incredibly hectic on the desk, finsihing late, my review today later... i am really glad about what i said to the iraqi guy... such an unsophisticated bedouin, especially when you compare him to the way Mushahid Hussein and Aitzaz Ahsan carried themselves. Real behemoths and these indian students kept on asking them random questions and they really came across strongly... There was aN Indian MP Sachin Pilot, but I felt Mushahid in particular had his number...

There was a special adviser to the Iraqi president, talking about the new democratic government in Iraq and the changes that are taking place. And it was very optimistic, but every so often, he would criticise the US virulently; like we are going to kic the Americans out, and the whole class would clap. or he said we have demolished the Republicans because of what has happened in Iraq , which is fine if it came from a miltia but not from the democratic government of Iraq .. And that Bush had his own agendas (which is probably true) and we know off it, and we will kick them out when they are not needed. And all these students were going crazy.

And I completely lost my temper, so I raise my hand at the end of the lecture and ask him, dont take this the wrong way, but do you not think you need to be a little more grateful towards the Americans, had it not been for Bush being so ballsy, regardless of his agenda, Mr. Saddam Hussein would still be in power in 2006 and you would have been special adviser to Uday Hussein (his son) rather than a democratically elected government of Iraq... So more than anything else, when you need global friends and your neighbours hate you, dont fall for populist sentiments and respect your friends who are making sacrifices for you... It went down like a ton of bricks, he was so pissed off, and the speaker intervened to say that we ought to respect the speaker, but I was so happy that I got him like that.. What an absolute prick. He started by saying well I would never work for Uday and I rejected a $250k job from the US State Dept, I said well I work in a $250k job for a US Bank And I respect your decision but my point is as a government you should know who to be grateful to, especially when the US have sacrificed so many soldiers and continue to do so.

These Iraqis are so ungrateful, I am going to write an article in my Pakistani newspaper about this, unsophisticated and crude, I have changed my opinion about my optimism on Iraq. With these sort of people, there is no hope, they will change and I bet with you, when the time comes their government will go back to old form sooner rather than later...
