No, no rough hombres. But the monkeys are actually pretty - what's the right term - assertive. Specifically, the alpha males. They kind of yell at you, making loud noises - that's how they claim the territory.

The black sand acts exactly like regular white sand. No staining, and the water remains clear by the surf. The sand settles right away. Add to that the black volcanic rocks and abundant jungle greenery right by the beach. It's all a little unusual, and... addictive... ;)
