FWIW, Barrons had some info on earningswhispers.com this week in 'Electronic Investor.'

---

Not all earnings estimates are compiled by analysts. "Whisper numbers" reflect the earnings world's rumor mill, figures bandied about by trading desks, chat rooms and blogs, and on various Websites. The best of the latter group is Earnings Whispers.com, an old-timer in Web years (and it looks like the site's interface hasn't been updated since we first looked at it many years ago). Free services include a calendar of verified and tentative announcements, news and discussion.

THOSE WHO OPERATE behind Earnings Whispers.com's basic subscriber wall ($14.95/month) get daily updates on the compiled whisper numbers, on the site and in an e-mail. Each company covered is represented in a good one-page profile that includes a wrap-up of the current quarter with the related outlook and trends. An alert flashes if there's a new "whispering," which is an EPS prediction from a source whom the service identifies by name. A premium service ($99.95/ month) offers more depth and breadth that can lead to trading opportunities based on more credible whispers. Both the basic and premium versions, however, can aid traders.

WhisperNumber.com assembles its earnings whisper numbers based on the views of individual investors. Interesting to see, but I'm not sure I'd bet the bank on these numbers.
