Re busts, I have been waiting for 2 years now for a housing bust in NZ and house prices just go on rising and NZ$ is back up to the highs too. Something has GOT to give. My guess is the NZ$ plunges and as refinancing of $billions of Japanese NZ$ loans are 7% are renegotiated, the Japanese bail out, leaving .... somebody .... holding the bag.

My guess is Japanese housewives lose a hefty chunk on the exchange rate and the Kiwi house owners lose heftier lumps on their house price declines in NZ$. As usual, the banks make out like bandits.
