I would hope that stuff like schools, highways, and homeland security generally benefit society as a whole.

Your argument is that government redistribution of wealth also benefits society as a whole. Personally, I'm more for a meritocracy and equal opportunity than simply giving it all away based on need alone.

Government is taking less money from its citizens, therefore government is doing less redistrubion of wealth.

Why do you think Bush's tax cuts amount to redistribution? Do you believe that Bush essentially stole from the poor and gave to the rich?
