True story! I was in the hospital, hooked up to a morphine machine, and realized that I was facing years of operations and may have to consider a different line of work, so I decided to become a country songwriter. I started cranking out horrible songs in 15 minutes flat and singing them to the nurses and visitors that came into the room. They stood there staring at me with their mouths agape, thinking "Wow, this guy's really OUT of it!". I lay there smiling.... daydreaming about Loretta Lynn, standing on a stage in front of a crowd of people on national tv, accepting a Grammy and thanking me for writing the song. I wrote songs like "I Think I Killed My Momma Yesterday" and "Who Hit Nellie In The Belly With A Flounder". Eventually, they took away my morphine machine and I felt like a real idiot. That morphine is something else!
