No the sarcasm was indeed obvious, but there was no useful point behind it.

Ah...poor guys. Exxon posts what? $30B in quarterly profits and they need tax subsidies?

1 - I don't think they need subsidies, I said I would support getting rid of them.

2 - The oil industry pays out more in taxes, then its after tax profits.

Those are taxes on me and you, not the industry.

They effect the industry. And the taxes directly on the industry effect you and me. There isn't some firm barrier between the two. Make the consumer pay for the end product and you hurt both the producer and the consumer. Tax the producer and you hurt both the producer and the consumer.
