If they run a black or a woman they could throw away everything. That's based on past performance in the crucial swing states only. The solid blue and red states don't count. Obama could get 90% of the vote in Michigan or Illinois and it wouldn't matter. If he loses Ohio or New Hampshire by one vote it's probably all over. Gore (now that Kerry's gone) or another strong centrist progressive white male will have no problem winning those swing states. Race matters in the USA, baby. You'd better believe it does. Just ask Harold Ford.
