Not really my area of expertise, but by "not ergot derived" I think they're referrig to things like both parts of fen-phen and sumatriptan and the like, which can be viewed as truncated versions of ergotamine, et. al. But Requip isn't too far away, chemically, either. Basically, they're blowing smoke. Either it hits the receptor or it doesn't. Lots of "not ergot derived" molecules hit 5HT2's.
