<the President lying has to stop> I agree -- perhaps we could start with the President no longer saying this war can be won if we just send more troops. Then perhaps he could follow up by acknowledging that there are diplomatic initiatives that could be very useful although they are hard to accept because he painted himself into a corner vis a vis Syria and Iran. Then there are the lesser lies -- the lies about how small the cost of the invasion would be. The lies about how easy it would be to invade Iraq and magically create a democracy as if it was like making instant soup. At least the worst of the lies are behind us -- the lies about how everybody agreed that Iraq had WMD. The lies about Iraqi ties to terrorism. The lies about secret prisons and the use of torture -- and all of the other blatant deceptions that have become part and parcel of this war.
